H.S. soccer

It's back. The H.S. season soccer season is about to get going. The teams have either completed are in the process of finalizing their rosters. The projections have been made of which teams will finish where in their districts (Fort Bend Austin Girls are my choice for first - but I am biased.)and the referees are getting ready to begin another season of "what game are you watching" "Refereeee", etc. I look forward to hearing from you as the season progresses with new and innovative comments. Also as always for all those who could referee better in your sleep, let me know and I will get you set up the right people to get you out there. So as we get started: Who do you think will win the districts and what drives you crazy about the games. I told you my choice for district.

New Year - Same Game

Hello again it is that time of year where all soccer parents load up the car with sunscreen, hats, water, chairs, mosquito spray, snacks, towels, tape, etc. etc. to head to the soccer fields. The players are ready, the coaches are ready, the referees are ready. Time for fun. Please remember that is what it is about having fun. The players and referees do not need to be yelled out the entire game. They know what to do and their perspective is going to be completely different than that from the sideline. The coach has a lot going on so maybe cut them a little slack. Remember years from now you will probably just remember the fun times and not that missed pass or call. Okay you probably will, but let's try to at least enjoy the games for now.

High school

As the high school season winds down and the playoffs are about to begin, I want to thank all the referees who have become my friends over the last few years. This year on the way back from a game a car ran a red light and hit the car of the referee and his son who did the game with me. He is now unable to move anything below his shoulders, but is working hard in rehab and hopefully will be back walking and working games. It is just a reminder that in a minute your life can change through no fault of your own and you should enjoy what you have and are doing. Thanks to the players, coaches and referees who have made this year enjoyable (even some of the parent:>)
